Constantine Construction rose from the
ashes of Daniel Martin Limited. Daniel
Martin had been hit by the housing
slump and recession in the late 80 ’s
and suffering the same fate as many
businesses at that time.
As soon as administrators were brought
in, Ron Constantine; their Surveying
Director, was held back to resolve the
many outstanding issues with the
contract works.
Daniel Martin were a main ground works
firm based in East Malling with an annual
turnover of £12 million with one hundred
and twenty employees. Whilst Ron was
tying up loose ends and wrapping up
Daniel Martin Limited, he was busy
establishing contacts and building leads
for the potential of future work.
The break came and the first contract as
Constantine Construction set underway
with regular payments and understanding
associates, it wasn’t too long before things
took off in the right direction. Ron asked
his long suffering colleague; Peter Brown,
from old to work with him in his capacity
as a Buyer.
Also it was evident that contracts would
need resourcing; Phil and Rob Angel were
taken on board as Contract Directors.
With Ron at the helm as the major share-
holder and Peter, Phil and Rob as equal |
share Directors, the foundations were
laid for Constantine Construction.
A few of the Site Agents were asked
to join the newly formed Constantine
Construction who had worked with Daniel
Martin Limited. This had added to the
strength and integrity of the Company,
with loyalty and sense of achievement.
The Company went Limited on the 19th
November 1993 and found offices in
Strood staffed by a Secretary, Surveyor
and Accountant.
The numbers in the field started increasing
with the growing order book. Phil and Rob
have now established a formidable team
on the ground who are supported by our
own machines, plant and equipment.
Ron has taken the Company from strength
to strength where we have enjoyed a
turnover of £12 million, over 100 men
employed as Groundworkers and a staff
of nine in the office including Senior
Surveyor / Estimator, Assistant Surveyors,
two Secretaries, Company Accountant
and Company Secretary.
The numbers in the field

the growing order book.
Phil and Rob have now established
a formidable team on the ground
who are supported by our own
machines, plant and equipment.
